Four Easy Exercises To Help You Quit Drinking

I want to offer you four simple but powerful exercises that will help you make progress on your sobriety journey. They’re designed to build awareness, set boundaries, calm your nervous system, and start imagining a new way of living.

This a companion blog to Episode 19 of How to Feel Good Alcohol-Free. Listen below!

4 Simple Exercises To Help You Quit

  1. The Stress & Sip Journal: For three days, track when stress hits and when alcohol feels like the answer. No judgment—just honest noticing. Awareness is the first step. Keep your journal on you, or start a note on the notes app. It doesn’t need to be a ton of words, just some scribbles on a page is all it takes.

  2. Boundary Quick Wins: Choose one small boundary to set—maybe no emails after 6 p.m., or saying no to one extra commitment. Notice how that feels and what shifts. You can do a little brainstorming session and write a list of boundaries you’d like to implement over time so you have a few to choose from.

  3. Mindful Pause Practice: Take 3 minutes once a day to pause. Breathe, scan your body, or simply sit quietly. It’s about rewiring your stress response. If you are worried about forgetting to do this, set alarms throughout the day, or create little calendar blockers.

  4. Imagine Your Next-Level Self: Write a letter from your future self—the woman who leads, creates, and thrives without burnout or alcohol. What advice does she have for you? I’m a big fan of actually handwriting out the letter on paper and putting it in an envelope if you have one. You can tuck it away and return to it for inspiration when you need it.

Don’t Worry About Being Perfect, Just Start.

You don’t have to do them all at once. But start with one that sticks out to you. If you are reading this and are not convinced they are going to help, I challenge you to give at least one of them a try for this week and see if you notice any changes. You can send me an email with your results and/or feedback!

If you’re ready to step into that next-level version of yourself, with clear boundaries, deep rest, and true resilience, I invite you to explore this journey with me and a community of like-minded women in my group coaching program. The best next step? Book a discovery call with me.
